Grandson of Harry Younger, who gave Benmore Estate to the nation in 1929 to become a Forestry School and Botanic Garden.

David took a keen and personal interest in the Garden at Benmore all his life and was a Trustee of the Younger (Benmore) Trust. He was a passionate gardener himself and opened his garden at Eckford, which is close to Benmore, to many groups on a regular basis.
