SUMMARY:
The party left Tsona Dzong for the Mago district, crossed four passes over 16,000 ft via the Tulung La, and reached the twin villages of Nyuri and Dyuri by July 23, noting abundant blackbirds and other birds at 13,000–14,000 ft. They spent a fortnight working the headwaters of the Tawang Chu in Monba country, then returned to Tsona, finding Mago disappointing; a note attributes 'To Chang Chu' to Ludlow.

July 19 - Aug 15.
Ibis 15. On 19 July we left Tsona Dzong for the Mago district, where we proposed to spend a month. As far as the Tulung La our route lay north of the main range and it took us 4 days to cross four passes over 16,000 ft. After crossing the Tulung La we descended the valley of the Tawang Chu and reached the twin villages of Nyuri & Dyuri in 2 days (July 23). Blackbirds were again very common & we found Ibis 472 (Carpodacus) Propasser pulcherrimus Beautiful Rose Finch at 13,000 ft. Ibis 503. Capella nemoricola Ibis 503 at 14,000 ft.
We were now in the country of the Monbas, a shy timid race of Tibetan origin. There we remained a fortnight, working the headwaters of the Tawang Chu. We then returned to Tsona. We were disappointed with Mago; we had expected great things of the district, but it failed to live up to our expectations.
