A collection of slides was donated by the family of dentistry professor John Southam to the Corstorphine Trust - 5 boxes related to RBGE so the Trust, in turn, donated these along with an envelope of news clippings to RBGE in 2016. The family do not think that John Southam was the photographer whose identity remains a mystery.
