1967-1970 - 3 years within International Biological Programme (IBP) with the U.K. Nature Conservancy working on Productivity of Native Ecosystems, at Moor House Field Station, Cumberland
1971-2001 - U.K. Forestry Commission working on Biochemical and Molecular analysis of native and introduced forest trees.

Born in Falkirk in 1873, George Forrest became one of Scotland's most prolific plant collectors, conducting seven expeditions in Yunnan province, S.W. China between 1904 and his death there in 1932.

GB 235 FIA/3: 1 box of 87 microscope slides, mostly trees and shrubs, made by Dr G. Ian Forrest (G. Forrest’s grandson) between 1959 and 1960 whilst studying for his B.Sc in Botany at University College London.
