Scope and content

SUMMARY:
The writer reflects at sunset in the garden of a longtime home, bidding farewell to the house, birds, and past. Though heavy-hearted, they resolve to leave for an unknown land with hope for future happiness.

CONTENT:
But now the last day has come and the last hour
of the last day. I am sitting in the garden
of the house where I have lived for so many
years. The sun is setting and the shadows are
lengthening. I can hear the birds singing in the
trees and the sound of the wind in the leaves.
It is a peaceful scene, but my heart is heavy.
I am leaving this place forever. I am going
to a new land, a land I have never seen.
I do not know what the future holds for me,
but I know that I must go. I must leave
behind all that I have known and loved.
I must start a new life in a new place.
It is a daunting prospect, but I am not
afraid. I have my memories to keep me
company, and I have my hope for the future.
I know that I will find happiness again,
even if it is in a different way. And so,
I say goodbye to this house and this garden.
I say goodbye to the birds and the wind.
I say goodbye to the past and I look
forward to the future. The sun has set
now and the stars are beginning to come
out. It is time for me to go. Goodbye.
