The Forrest correspondence collection is an artificial collection created by RBGE and not George Forrest. The collection comprises sets of letters to, from and about Forrest and have been brought together from other collections such as the Regius Keeper correspondence collections in the RBGE Institutional Archives in order to keep letters on the same subject together. It may be that letters about Forrest may still remain in other collections, such as under A.K. Bulley or J.C. Williams. The arrangement and numbering of the collection is designed to reflect to some extent, the different sources that the letters have come from, such as the RBGE Institutional Archives, Forrest's family or Forrest's sponsors such as J.C. Williams. Prior to this, the collection has been arranged chronologically, and therefore can be divided into the seven expeditions Forrest underwent. Therefore, the collection is arranged by expedition, by year, and roughly by source.
