Three letters and a description relating to the emergence of a new genus after some saussurea-type specimens collected by Siehe were studied and didn't fit into any genus in existence at that time. ‘Short Account of the Fossil Tree at Kinneil’, written by William Badger in July 1875. Account includes 3 sketches of the Fossil Tree, numbered 1,2 and 4.

The collection dates between 1769 and c2003 and comprises:

• 3 notebooks including financial records, language studies and diaries;
• 17 pieces of correspondence and handwritten notes;
• a printed compendium of Swiss flora;
• a copy of John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress;
• 4 prints of notable 18th century French figures; and
• two photographs of items which belonged to Blaikie's family.

Letter from James Lee to Thomas Blaikie outlining concerns regarding payment for materials supplied and requesting assurances be given. Letter has also been annotated by Blaikie regarding payment.

•Copy of 'A Manual of Botany' by Le Maout and Decaisne, translated by Mrs Hooker and with an Appendix by Joseph Dalton Hooker, 1876, awarded to James Adam Terras by Prof. Alexander Dickson in July 1886 as a Special Prize for High Proficiency in the Class of Advanced Practical Botany (ELWU2) (seems likely Terras eventually donated the book to the Botanical Society Library?)
