• Booklet, “Laws of The Harveian Society of Edinburgh; instituted 12th April 1782”, with Chronological Lists of Presidents (including D. Rutherford (1787 & 1818), J.H. Balfour (1852) and R. Graham (1825)) and Members since 1782 with Rules of Membership.
The photographs cover a wide variety of activity at RBGE and many were used in the book 'How the Garden Grew' by L. Paterson. There are student groups, work in the Rock Garden c.1938-39, the Palm House, shots around the garden including snow clearing, staff/students prior to the Second World War including Henry W. Moseley, William G. Webster, James G. Crabbe, W.S. Neil, John E.G. Beach, Ronald J. Smith and also Jack Roberts. Trip to Loch Lomond (Guild?), Laboratory Shots and Jack Roberts dressed up as the Rag Queen on May Day 1948.

•Memoir of Dr Thomas Charles Hope, Late Professor of Chemistry in the University of Edinburgh by Thomas Stewart Traill (from Transactions of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, vol. xvi, part iv; 1848 •Copy of letters to Sir J.E. Smith, dated January 1784 – May 1785 filed under “Smith, JE.”
The medal is a silver Royal Horticultural Societ Joseph Banks medal and is inscribed 1929 Junior Section General Examination in Horticulture William A Hughes First. In 1987 Hughes made contact with Roy Watling at RBGE and donated his medal - both men had been office bearers for the Botanical Society of Scotland. The medal, and eventually the certificate and all associated correspondence came to the care of M.V. Mathew in the library who placed them in the Archives.
•1 box containing papers relating to an expedition to East Africa, Ruwenzori Mountains, (1932); papers seem to be those generated by RBGE Herbarium as opposed to Humphreys himself.
