This is a series created by bringing known sets of lecture notes, usually taken by students attending Botany lectures at the University of Edinburgh provided by the Regius Keeper of the RBGE who usually also held the post of Professor of Botany. Many of these books will have been acquired by Isaac Bayley Balfour.

Bound notebook entitled 'Botany Notes, Book 1', Lecturer, Prof, Bayley Balfour. [Student] R.W. Graham-Yooll, Edinburgh University, 21st April 1915. Notebook is full of lecture notes (lectures 1-16) accompanied by coloured illustrations.

Theatre programme for the play 'Plant Hunter: The Tibetan Journeys of Joseph Rock' which was performed at RBGE during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 1996 by Theatrum Botanicum, Theater of Plantes.
The programme has Rock's Naxi bookplate on the front cover and a timeline of Rock's life inside. The play was written using Rock's diaries which are held in the RBGE Archives, and Evan-Wentz's Tibetan Book of the Dead.

Sanderson's Prize essay manuscript, ‘The Origin and Development of the Embryo in Phanerogamous Plants’, submitted in July 1849 as part of his Botany course for his Medical degree at the University of Edinburgh. Sanderson has illustrated the manuscript with pencil illustrations drawn from the microscope.
Impressed by the content, Hutton Balfour deemed it worthy of a prize, with part of the content read at a meeting of the Botanical Society of Edinburgh in February 1850.
