Correspondence, Photographs, Orders, Invoices and Plans to and from Mo Farquharson, David Mitchell (RBGE), Benjamin Tindall (Architect) and Clara Govier (RBGE) outlining the ideas and plans behind the sculptural installations of animals in the new Arid House at RBGE, 1998-2000. Includes 54 photographs taken in around 1999 by Mo Farquharson showing the installed sculptures in the Arid House.
•Letter and exchange request / book plate c.1890? French collector looking to exchange books? Reference to an Ex-Libris Society. Reaux based at 26 Rue des Dames, Paris. Letter and Card found in RBGE copy of Matthioli’s ‘De Plantis Epitome Utilissima’ 1586 [belonged to John Hope, so presumably not received by exchange with Reaux]
•Letter from Richardson to unknown 2 Sep 1841, describing a meeting of the British Association regarding a grant for preparing maps for illustration of the geographical distribution of plants & animals, which had lapsed, due to inconsistencies
222 black and white photographs in 13 envelopes, some of which date between 1952-1957), presumably all taken by David Wilkie of RBGE and passed to (Charles) Trevor Jephcott. The subjects are all horticultural, with two notable groups, rhododendron and campanula.
•22 page, bound article written by Hamish Johnston adding new information about the Dickson nurserymen families to an article written by Priscilla Minay for the Old Edinburgh Club Vol. 1 1991. Accompanied by 2 pages of corrections to the Dickson entries in Ray Desmond’s Dictionary of British and Irish Botanists. 6 pages of email correspondence with Archive Librarian at RBGE (Feb.2011)
•monograph; 8 pencil written notes of a biographical nature (originator of letter was James Grieve) detailing his work on Violas at Dickson's Ltd. and extract of Roy Genders ‘Pansies and Violas’
