Ludlow to Tso bunang Aug 26 - L. 160: 162

Good stretch of journey - suddenly, at about 3 miles from Tsare we came upon the first of a chain of 4 lakes. They were crystal clear & their setting amidst the fir forest was one of the loveliest sights of its kind I have ever seen in the Himalaya - lowest lake was the smallest, the other 3 about 1/2 mile long by 400 yds broad. We camped by the head of the 3rd lake near the water's edge & seldom have I had a more beautiful camping ground. A little grassy islet with a fine clump of (Sikkimensis yellow) primulas lay within a few yards of my tent door.

Many blackbirds on the W of the lake.
