At Bimbi La Camp, Tenduk brought in plants and a Tsongpen sent seed from Chuchar; subsequent halts record collecting seeds of Primula and Gentiana near a pass, with fine weather followed by rain. On the 9th, Lumsden, D and Tenduk accompanied the diarist toward Bimbi La and a talao, collected Androsace seed, and shot three partridges, while mail from Sanga Choling was delayed.

Cyananthus wardii 2557 sp. nov.
It, under No. 2557. Tenduk brought in a beautiful allardia
allardia glabra 2553
2553, a Tsongpen sent some seed from Chuchar.

Bimbi La Camp
8th Sept. Halt. Went with Danong below camp then up E to a
Gentian
pass about 15500 & collected seed of P. macrophylla & G. przewalskii
P. muscoides 2567 P. macrophylla 2560, 2561
It was fine again again, a perfect night, & only a small
thunder shower in the day. Lovely evening again. Took what
may be another gentian like the Chusam one, up the hill
Gent. trichotoma var. brevicaulis 2558, Gentian phyllocalyx seed 2559
a bit, much paler, not so tall, under No. 2558.

Bimbi La Camp
9th Sept. Halt. Lumsden, D, Tenduk & I went up towards the Bimbi
La, collected some androsace seed, then on to the talao, where
we found some partridges & shot three. Lumsden got one in flight
with No. 2 dust shot. Also saw a lot of G. ornata (?) &
higher up some fine specimens of G. stictantha & some seed
of P. glabra. Then we went on past a dying glacier, over the
ridge to the right & down an awful scree to where Lumsden
had shot kuling before. A lovely day: fine all day. Out
from 7.0 till 3.0pm.

Bimbi La Camp
10th Sept. Halt. Stayed in camp. Rain most of the day, though
P. sikkimensis pantlingii 2568
never very heavy. Still no sign of our mail, which the Sanga
Choling people must be delaying, damn them.

SUMMARY:
At Lapu a herd of bharal approached, and a female entered the hut where Tsongpen and others were, leading to its capture and killing. A halt day followed with efforts to dry seeds and arrangements for local seed collection, while noting snow on hilltops and concerns for Danong collecting seeds from Rigitum and the Taka la. The party then traveled to Zimsati at the west foot of Taka la amid rain turning to snow.

at Lapu, where the rest house is under a huge overhanging cliff, with a boulder scree below it. A herd of 8 bharal came on the scree to feed and gradually walked nearer. There was one big head among them. One female actually walked into the hut where three other men were with Tsongpen. They put a rope round its neck and killed it near it.

18th September. Halt. Fine in the morning, showers later and rain at night. Stayed in camp and tried to dry seeds. Arranged for the old man who keeps the tsukang to collect seeds of the Chosan gentian which should be ripe in 3 weeks or so. There are masses of G. ornata on all the grassy patches round about camp. There was snow on the hilltops again and I fancy Danong will have his work cut out to get seeds of the two good alpine P. sikkimensis we want from Rigitum and the Taka la.

19th Sept. To Zimsati (West foot of Taka la) 13 miles. It rained all night, but cleared up by the morning. Left at 8:00 am, yak and pony transport. There was some sun till about 9:30 when rain started and this soon became snow, which lasted till 2:00 pm. The pass had quite a lot on it, and was lying down to 500 feet above Zimsati. It cleared up for a few moments then, and snowed

SUMMARY:
The diarist left Tsongpen at a drogpa above Chorken Namo with two boys and kit, dealt with a troublesome man who led them beyond Karpo, and aided transport people lacking tents during snow. Tsongpen plans a trip via Karpo and the Trakan La. Botanical notes include abundant gentians (Gentiana ampherata 2592, G. stictantra on the Chaha, G. ornata) and collections of G. detonsa seed and P. parra.

hard again in the evening. I left Tsongpen at a drogpa above Chorken Namo, with two boys with his kit. One man with us caused a lot of trouble by taking the boys where they were not to go beyond Karpo, which had been arranged with the head men the day before. I'm afraid I was very angry, & gave him a good hearty kick up the backside, which made him furious. However it changed the subject, & I think the boys will go alright. A pretty beastly day. The transport people came with no tents or covering at all, must have had a miserable night, though we gave them some sarakis when it started to snow. It looks as if Tsongpen would have a pretty rotten time of it on his trip round by Karpo & the Trakan La, but he seems cheerful enough. There is a new gentian growing on the swampy ground by camp, & G. stictantra is growing on the Chaha, especially the North side, where there were masses of G. ornata. It is very common here too.

Zimsaki
20th Sept. Halt. A lovely day, with some storms round about. Sky perfectly clear in the evening. Collected some G. detonsa seed & P. parra. There is a fine gentian here 2592, which I have Gentiana ampherata 2592.
